We will have dancers and athletes coming along to compete for the gold in ballroom, Latin and freestyle categories, either as single, duo, combi or group entries for inclusive and wheelchair dancers.

About the event

We are pleased to announce that we are hosting the second Welsh Open Inclusive Dance Championships in Bridgend, South Wales, on Sunday 3rd March 2024.

Eligibility: This event is open to all Wheelchair Dancers & Standing Inclusive Dancers.

Sections for dancers who are wheelchair users (powered / attendant & self-propelling, Vision Impaired, Audio impaired, learning disabilities & ASD) all competitors will be included subject to entries.

Classification: Couples / Solo dancers will be dancing in two classes

Class (LWD) 1: Class (LWD) 2:

Doping:  Doping is forbidden in accordance with IPC Anti-Doping Code

Liability:  The organisers are not liable for personal injuries, damage, or loss of property.

A minimum of 1½ minutes for Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep.

A minimum of 1 minute for Viennese Waltz.

TEN DANCE CHAMPIONSHIP:

GROUP DANCE:

Time limit: 2.5 Minutes (Recommended) including Entry and Exit. Props are permitted but should be kept to a minimum Inclusive pairs, in which one of the partners is physically disabled. Inclusive dance groups, that have members with a disability, and members without a disability.

SHOWDANCE / FREESTYLE:

Athletes may choose any type of music for Freestyle ShowdanceEvents) The music must meet a specific length:

The duration for Singles: 1:30 min to 2min

The duration for Combi: 2:30 to 3min

The duration for Duo: 2:00 to 2:30min

Dancers must submit their music prior to the relevant competition in mp3 format. Music should be audible and cleanly edited.

Costumes: Dancers can wear appropriate and safe attire for their needs and choice. Please be mindful of timings of events as we will be running to a strict time scale and cannot over run in time. Entry numbers must be placed on the back of the dance chair or standing dancer / leading standing partner.

Age categories for participants: Children (6-14 years) Juniors (15-19 years) Youth and Adults (19-25 years) Adults 19+ . Choreography in this event can include all dance styles of dance.

Dance Floor: 19m X 14m A maximum of Eight (8) couples is allowed on the dance floor in each heat in each dance.

Judging:  3 Adjudicators including chairman

To assist with administration please send entries to the organiser by 15th February 2024.

Refreshments:  A short lunch break of 30 minutes. Please bring your own packed lunch or alternatively food will be sold throughout the day by the charity Bridgend Inclusive Network Group - BING who will be selling hot and cold drinks as well as cakes, snacks and sandwiches. All proceeds will go to the charity who support other 3rd sector charities and organisations to ensure organisations have an Inclusive & Diverse model in place offering, Bridgend Borough people with disabilities, and their families more opportunities in sport and wellbeing activities.
